Wintery Blue Mash

After a blast of snow I took my first outing of 2014 to Blue Mash. I scored a high count of 6 American Tree Sparrows. Apart from a Hermit Thrush nothing out of the ordinary otherwise. No luck either at the Agricultural History Farm. Consolation was a kestrel that posed nicely for pictures.

Greater White Fronted Geese at North Point State Park

Good thing I brought my birding gear on an outing to North Point State Park on New Year's Day. Three White-fronted Geese were hanging with a flock of Canada Geese. Also in there, a peculiar Canada Goose with a perfectly square white patch on its side.
